About My Campaign
My name is Reed Teter, and I am a Life Scout with Boy Scouts of America, Troop 89, based in Lake Arrowhead, California. As part of my journey to earn the rank of Eagle Scout, I am proposing a service project that I believe will have a lasting and potentially life-saving impact on the Running Springs community.
For my Eagle Scout Project, I would like to install an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) at the Caplinger Sports Field in Running Springs, CA. An Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is a portable electronic device that analyzes the heart rhythm of someone in cardiac arrest and delivers an electrical shock to restore a normal heartbeat, if needed. AEDs are designed for use by anyone, including those without medical training, and are often found in public places to enable quick intervention during emergencies.
This field is a popular location for youth sports, recreation, and community events, and ensuring the safety and preparedness of the site is a top priority. Additionally, I plan to donate a 2nd AED Device that Rim of the World Recreation and Parks District can choose where they would like to place it after the project completion.
The primary goals and benefits of this project include:
• Increasing emergency preparedness at a frequently used youth sports facility.
• Improving public safety by providing immediate access to lifesaving equipment in the event of sudden cardiac arrest.
• Supporting the mission of the Rim of the World Recreation and Parks District to provide safe and enriching recreational spaces.
• Raising awareness among local families and athletes about the importance of emergency response readiness.
I am currently coordinating with Rim of the World Recreation and Parks District, Electricians and local fire authorities to ensure that the AED is properly installed, secured, and maintained. I will also be providing clear, accessible signage for the device.
Thank you for your time!
