" Points for a Purpose" AED Donation to the Kincardine Community ( TDBeAT and Bryce Martin)

We lost Tyson at the young age of 18 due to sudden cardiac arrest. Ty was one of the most athletic and healthiest people I knew. He played hockey for the Waterloo Siskins in the GOHL and lacrosse for the Owen Sound North Stars in the OJBLL. 

Ty and I had known each other since I was born. He and his family—Chris, Di, and Gavin—are essentially family to me. We were teammates throughout the years, playing minor hockey together for the Grey Bruce Highlanders and minor/ junior lacrosse together within the North Stars organization. 

My goal for this initiative is to help make the Kincardine community safer by donating an AED in Ty’s name. This AED will provide athletes, local residents, and visitors with access to potentially life saving equipment when something unexpected happens. 

I also hope this initiative will help share Ty’s story with more people, bringing greater awareness to sudden cardiac arrest and the importance of CPR and AED training. 

To help meet our fundraising goal, I am using one of the sports Ty loved most, hockey. For every point I score during the 2026–27 season with the Kincardine Bulldogs, I will personally donate $5 to the fund. I will then be asking local businesses, members of the hockey community, Kincardine residents, and anyone willing to help to either match my donation or contribute in whatever they can.
