My wife, two children & I have been a part of the Riverview Park Community for 4 years. I’m a Veteran of the Canadian Forces where I served as a medic for 12 years. Currently, I work as a Firefighter in Ottawa. My wife and I have decided as a family to spearhead an initiative that will place an outdoor AED in our community which will be accessible 24/7.
Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) is still one of the leading causes of death and can happen to anyone, anywhere and at any time. There are approximately 40,000 out of hospital SCAs in Canada each year but only 10% of people survive. Access to an AED combined with CPR can increase the chance of survival by 75%!
